Scentwork classes
Our classes
Scentwork is amazing for any age dog, breed, and all abilities.
Our dog’s noses are incredible, and putting them to work is a brilliant way to inspire your dog’s confidence and develop a greater understanding of your dog.
We explore dog body language helping you to increase your bond with your dog and begin to understand their communications with ease.
Scentwork classes are a fun activity for both of you. It’s an incredibly rewarding experience and an excellent way to meet your dog’s needs and give them the mental stimulation they crave.
I’m a Scentwork UK trainer, judge in competitions, and I teach scentwork at all levels.
I’m positively barmy about scentwork, and once you try it, I have no doubt you will be too.
I offer a 90-minute introductory workshop if you’d like to try it out before committing to a 6-week scentwork course.
If you’d like to dive right in and get started, then you can book onto the Level 1 scentwork classes without any introduction.
Once you’ve completed level 1, you can take an assessment and continue your scentwork adventure together.
Level 1 Scentwork training
The 6-week course teaches your dog to find and identify a specific odour, which we will teach them to detect at the beginning of the course. The scent we start with is clove.
You will receive a starter scentwork kit at the beginning of the course.
Our six-week scentwork classes teach:
We begin by teaching your dog what scent means. Once your dog has an understanding, we will progress to hiding scented materials in different search areas as we hone our scentwork skills!
Teaching a find it Cue
Teaching a passive indicator
Introduction to the odour of clove
Searching tables and chairs
Searching boxes and luggage
External search using equipment brought from your own home
Vehicles search
It’s important that you continue scent training at home in between classes, which will be set for you to follow.
